The Upper Dublin / Cardinals survive Norristown 3-2 thanks to Jason Greene ‘s late-game heroics
Jason Greene drove home the winning run to give the Upper Dublin Cardinals a dramatic walk off win as they bested league opponent Norristown 3-2 on Thursday in the home opener. UD improved to 2-0 in the Suburban American Conference.
Trailing 2-0, JT Breslin led off the 7th with a single followed by Thomas Juelke who drew a walk. Pinch hitter Matt Hebling bunted and on the ensuing throwing error, Breslin scored and Juelke advanced to third. Greene followed with the single to right scoring both Juelke and Hebling and giving the Cardinals the win in dramatic fashion.
Conor McFadden pitched 5 strong innings for UD, giving up just 1 run. Greene got the win in relief, pitching the 6th and 7th innings.
Edling took the loss for Norristown. He pitched six strong innings, walking four, but striking out 10, before allowing three runs in the seventh. The game was scoreless until Norristown broke the ice with one run in the fourth scoring on an RBI double by Grello.
