The Upper Dublin Cardinals get more hits, but not more runs in 6-5 loss to Avon Grove in a non-league match up Tuesday. The Upper Dublin Cardinals lost 6-5 in seven innings at Avon Grove HS on Tuesday, despite outhitting Avon Grove 13 to six.
Max Weinberg racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Upper Dublin / Cardinals. He singled in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. #32 got the win in relief for Avon Grove. #32 pitched one inning and allowed no runs. JT Breslin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
In the bottom of the first, Avon Grove grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Avon Grove’s rally started when Tom Jacobs singled. After posting two runs in the third, Avon Grove again scored two in the fourth. In the third, Avon Grove scored on a two-run single by Sam Good, scoring M Pettcruto and Brad Tompkins. Avon Grove scored on a two-run home run by R Guckin. Avon Grove went up for good in the fifth, scoring one run on a fielder’s choice.
Upper Dublin is back in action in a home league contest with Cheltenham on Thursday and then an away game at Abington on Friday.
