Andrew McDermott‘s effort not enough in the Upper Dublin Cardinals‘s 11-6 loss. Andrew McDermott both hit and pitched well for the Upper Dublin / Cardinals, but it wasn’t enough as the Upper Dublin / Cardinals fell to Abington 11-6 at AHS on Friday. The Upper Dublin Cardinals’ McDermott was perfect at the dish, going 1-1. He singled in the fifth inning.
Abington couldn’t get anything going as long as McDermott was on the rubber. Abington managed just two hits off of the the Upper Dublin / Cardinals’ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none during his two innings of work. Ring got the win in relief for Abington . Ring pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed one run. Abington was sparked by Aidan Coyle and Paul Poppert, who teamed up for five hits and six RBIs.
Tommy Reilly ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two innings, walked six, struck out two, and allowed five runs. One run in the top of the fifth helped the Upper Dublin / Cardinals close their deficit to 9-5. An RBI single by McDermott sparked the Upper Dublin / Cardinals’ rally. But, Ring got Matt Hebling to fly out to end the inning.
Abington tacked on another two runs in the sixth. A hit into a fielder’s choice scored Chris Clewell to get Abington on the board in the inning. After pushing across one run in the top of the seventh, the Upper Dublin Cardinals faced just a 11-6 deficit. An RBI single by Reilly triggered the Upper Dublin / Cardinals’ comeback. JP Nolan ended the game by getting Hebling to fly out.
