Upper Dublin scored two runs in the top of the seventh to stay undefeated in league play.
Jason O’Gara doubled to centerfield, scoring JT Breslin and Thomas Juelke.   Upper Dublin’s Conor McFadden gave up two hits in seven innings. Upper Merion’s Mike Hutchinson allowed six hits and two runs in seven innings.   Justin Horn had two hits for the Flying Cardinals.

Upper Dublin (11-2, 10-0 SOL) clashes with Wissahickon Thursday. Upper Merion (4-11, 4-7 SOL) hosts Springfield on the same day.

VARSITY GAMECHANGER REPORT

Pitching picks up the Upper Dublin Cardinals‘s offense in 2-0 victory over Upper Merion. The Upper Dublin Cardinals didn’t provide Conor McFadden with much support, but he didn’t need much. McFadden pitched seven strong innings to carry the Upper Dublin  Cardinals to a 2-0 win over Upper Merion in seven innings on Tuesday. The Upper Dublin / Cardinals held Upper Merion without a run while McFadden was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up four.

Jason O’Gara helped the Upper Dublin / Cardinals pull ahead for the duration in the seventh inning. Thomas Juelke singled to get on base in the seventh. He then went from second to third on a single by Max Weinberg.

Hutchinson took the loss for Upper Merion. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed two runs.

JV GAMECHANGER REPORT

Early boost from Joe Monaghan  helps the Upper Dublin Cardinals JV get past Upper Merion, 7-3 .  The Upper Dublin Cardinals JV built an early lead against Upper Merion, scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 7-3 win on Sunday.  The Upper Dublin Cardinals JV scored in the first on an RBI single by Joe Monaghan and a two-run triple by Ryan Ogara.  Monaghan racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Upper Dublin Cardinals JV.  Ryan Besachio‘s 11 strikeouts were enough to push the Upper Dublin Cardinals JV past Upper Merion. Ryan Besachio allowed one earned run on five hits and six walks over six innings.

PlayerA was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.  Upper Merion scored one run in each of the first, fourth and seventh. In the first, Upper Merion scored on an RBI double by PlayerD, plating PlayerA.  An RBI single by PlayerC fueled Upper Merion’s comeback. Finally, Ryan Besachio induced an inning-ending strike out from PlayerE.  Upper Merion scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to cut its deficit to four. An RBI single by PlayerG set off Upper Merion rally. Michael Zicchinolfi got the last out, as Upper Merion’s PlayerI.
